Hobbies and Interests

I love photography and travel. I also enjoy live theatre and geneology. I am active as Treasurer and various other committees including the affirming committee of my Church. Recently, after starting as a Peer Advisor to the seniors program at MY House at the AIDS Committee, I was asked to join the Board of Directors of the regional AIDS Committee..

Mixed bag. DJ was born in Ottawa, baptized at Parkdale United there, confirmed at Riverside United in Riverside Ontario at age 12.

As a youth DJ taught Sunday School, was VP of Presbytery Young Peoples, and served on the building committee for Wesley United Church in Amherstburg.

After undergraduate in Windsor, he moved to London to study at the London School of Economics (City Temple Congregational Church) and when he returned to Canada married and moved to Edmonton where he was an Elder at Metropolitan United Church.

After completing his doctorate in economics (government finances and health economics), he moved to Waterloo.

In 1979, he was a member at Beechwood (now Trinity) Missionary Church which was followed by Lakeshore Bible Chapel, and then attended in order Good Samaritan Church, Waterloo Mennonite Brethren, and Waterloo Pentecostal Church.

In 2000, DJ moved to Toronto and attended MCC Toronto until moving to Richmond Hill and started coming to RHUC in 2011.

He was a member of Fee Fee Baptist Church in Hazlewood (St Louis MO) where he joined and took adult baptism while on Sabbatical in 1998 and only recently joined Richmond Hill United Church where he is Treasurer, preaches occassionally at the Hospital etc.. Currently training to do regular Sunday Services as a lay preacher.

He is a member of Hands and Hearts, Men’s Breakfast, and H.A.I.R., attends Bible Study and has served two years as Church Treasurer at his current church.
